The first post-primary poll in New Jersey is out, and the rule of thumb is usually this: if the incumbent is below 50% , he’s in trouble.
Well, Rasmussen has Republican Chris Christie - the challenger - at 51%. Incumbent Democrat John Corzine is at 38%. Even worse for Corzine, 5% are voting for “Some other candidate.”
The last New Jersey Democrat to be in so much trouble was Senator Bob Toricelli, who was promptly cashiered resigned so the party could pull a switcheroo.
Before Corzine bought the Dem nomination in 2005, then-acting Governor Richard Codey was very popular. Don’t be surprised if the desperate Dems try to talk Corzine into pulling a Toricelli and letting Codey run.



And don’t be surprised if New Jersey voters fall for the same switchero trick again!
