As the Bush Administration comes to an end, Peter Wehner (NRO - The Corner) reminds me of something that we should never forget – and for which we should always be grateful to George W. Bush:
Cutting taxes several times and never, not even once, raising them.
As a reminder, this makes George W. Bush the first President since Jack Kennedy never to propose or enact a tax increase (Ford proposed a tax increase, but it was never enacted; even Ronald Reagan proposed tax increases in 1982, and agreed to them in later years).
George W. Bush will be criticized heavily for excess spending - and rightly so - but as bad as things are, they would have been much worse with a tax increase. Bush refused to do that, and we all owe him a debt of gratitude.

That’s like saying that the poison I drank would’ve been much worse if it included gasoline.
Bush has ruined the reputation of the GOP and, along with the Republican Congress that ruled for much of his term, destroyed the GOP’s credibility when it comes to fiscal conservatism.
It’s going to be awhile before they can get that back.
Hi.
I not going to bash Bush, not today.
I can tell you that Bush’s Tax Cuts really did nothing to help my bottom line, but what I will say about the expresident, was that he never faultered on his stance on the War On Terror.
And while, I think this war caused more problems than clear them up, I admire Bush’s resolve, and even I cannot ignore the fact that just maybe, his taking the fight to terrorists on their own front rather than maybe fighting them here, just maybe made America just a bit safer…maybe.

True, rightwing liberal, but at 12:02 p.m. Jan. 20 the GOP recovery began.
