Joe Biden, in Ohio today, announced his party’s policy on energy independence. I can only hope and pray that Southwest Virginia was listening (Politico, h/t Riley at VV, emphasis added):
Some great rope line video from Joe Biden’s recent Ohio swing, where he was asked by an anti-pollution campaigner about clean coal — a controversial approach in Democratic circles for which Obama has voiced support, particularly during the Kentucky primary.
Biden’s apparent answer: He supports clean coal for China, but not for the United States.
“No coal plants here in America,” he said. “Build them, if they’re going to build them, over there. Make them clean.”
“We’re not supporting clean coal,” he said of himself and Obama.
Just last week, Biden was in SWVA, claiming to have been a coal-miner back in the day (Spark It Up and From On High). I can only imagine what the reaction to him would have been if they knew this.
John McCormack (Weekly Standard Blog) actually puts the quote in context – and it’s worse (emphasis added):
Biden replied: “We’re not supporting ‘clean coal.’ Guess what. China’s building two every week. Two dirty coal plants. And it’s polluting the United States. It’s causing people to die. … China is burning three hundred years of bad coal unless we figure out how to clean their coal up. Because it’s going to ruin your lungs and there’s nothing we can do about it. No coal plants here in America. Build them, if they’re going to build them over there make ‘em clean because they’re killing you.“
There’s a campaign slogan in that: Guns don’t kill people; coal plants kill people.
I didn’t say it was a good slogan.
So much for all the sweet talk He gave the people in Scranton He’s beeen in Washington too long,and has learned to talk out of both sides of his Big mouth at the same time….I mean this guy is town folk isn’t He….Might be,but He’s also a Liar….Give Him enough time,and He’ll,insert His foot in his mouth again……..Remember He has your guns in his best interest too….yeah Right
Slowly but surely it’s becoming evident: Obama and Biden will only say what people want to hear. So their story changes depending on audience — Scranton and Ohio for coal, Scranton and San Francisco for Americans clinging to guns and religion, and so many other instances.
But media says nothing!
