At that point, the speech busted free of this metaphysical plane and veered into unchartered territory.
I’ve never seen anyone – anyone - get that personal.
I don’t know how the speech will be received. Those who waited for the whole thing may have a hard time remembering the specific-laden beginning. To an extent, it felt like two speeches welded together. Then again, Bob Dole got a tremendous bounce from the 1996 convention, and I still think his speech was the worst I’ve heard in my twenty years of hearing them.
Seriously, though, I didn’t expect him to get that personal. I really didn’t. It threw me.

DJ, he did well to get so personal. It means he puts the hero worship in perspective of real life. Unlike John Kerry, who, of course, never was a hero.
It shows the strength of the inner man to reveal so much and fear not.
We will see how many Americans want to fight and how many want a human Messiah. I think it is about 55-45. Maybe 51-49.
John McCain: An American hero, worthy to lead…
(POST WILL BE UPDATED ALL DAY WITH NEW LINKS)…
When he highlighted his Hanoi experience, I sat there with tears in my eyes, and I am glad that this man will become our next President (Lord willing).
McCain is not the only one to survive years of torture. There are many many heroes. Certainly, I have the greatest respect for him although I will not vote for him. But here’s the thing. They broke him. His own words. That doesn’t mean bones. It means psychologically. So, what did he say to them? Additionally, it is a fact that he finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class at the academy. How many were ahead of him? And always remember, that the person at the very bottom of a medical school graduation is still called doctor.
