This is a fantastic announcement from RPV Chairman Jeff Frederick. I only wish I’d checked my Inbox sooner than I did (emphasis added):
Richmond, Virginia, August 8, 2008 - In preparation for a run for Lt. Governor, today Secretary of Finance Jody Wagner officially departs state government. The veteran member of the Warner and Kaine administrations oversaw budget and financial matters for the governors over her six year tenure.
Delegate Jeffrey M. Frederick, Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia and member of the Committee on Finance in the House of Delegates said that Virginia taxpayers have been the victim of Wagner’s habitually inaccurate revenue forecasts and shoddy fiscal management.
“She was complicit with Governor Warner’s cooking the state’s financial books to justify the largest tax increase in Virginia history; part of the financial team that misplaced $137 million in taxpayer dollars for education; and has consistently provided inaccurate and politically motivated revenue estimates that have put Virginia in the budget crisis we currently face”, he said.
“On the occasion of Jody Wagner’s resignation as Secretary of Finance, I declare August 8, 2008 ‘Wagner Freedom Day’ in the Commonwealth. Virginia citizens are finally free from her incompetence, free from her political-motivated fiscal management and free from her disregard of taxpayer dollars,” said Frederick.

High-tax, big spending Jody Wagner’s record of incompetence
The question now before Virginians: Do we reward this incompetence with the number-two position in the state? Take a chance on John “Instant Democrat” Bowerbank? Go Back to the Future (literally at 88 MPH) with Dick Cranwell?
I prefer “none of the above” - or to put it another way, four more years.

Frederick whacking Wagner and Warner, I hope Gilmore will pick this up and go after Warner on that tax increase and the out and out fabrications that were part of it!

You guys are ridiculous. How can someone who supports Gilmore – father of the greatest budget deficit in Virginia’s history – really even pretend to criticize the Sec. of Finance who kept VA’s AAA bond rating and helped make VA the “best managed state in the country” according to Congressional Quarterly? If you actually cared about responsible financial management of our state, you’d take down your endorsement of Gilmore and his “no car tax” politics that broke the state budget.
