The man who coined the famous phrase (“You can’t fight the internet”) has, I hope, been taking a look at it for the last two weeks worth of commentary on the toxic HB6055. Here’s Riley’s latest over at VV (emphasis in orginal – note: the initial ”they” refers to Albo, Phil Hamilton, and Bill Howell):
If they bothered to check, they’d see that opposition to HB 6055 is coming largely from REPUBLICANS — both grassroots and elected officials. In fact, today the Prince William BOCS (GOP majority of 6-2) is set to vote on a resolution opposing HB 6055. Republicans have an opportunity here to reclaim the mantle of low taxes, fiscal restraint and limited government while also addressing the Commonwealth’s transportation needs. The two need not be mutually exclusive. The assertion that Gov. Timmy! really wants to kill HB 6055 and that he is somehow behind this is absurd.
While I, for one, sincerely hope the Dems will help kill HB6055, I refuse to take in on faith that they actually will. Riley’s main point – that the principled and energetic opposition to this comes from the right, is the thing I wish Albo et al understood. Perhaps then they wouldn’t make themselves look as bad as that letter Hamilton sent out earlier.
